Ayaz Bhuta leading vote for Fans' Best Player
Af Jannik Lund Andersen
After more than 1700 votes, Great Britain's Ayaz Bhuta has distanced himself from Canada's Zak Madell and Australia's Ryley Batt in the running for MVP as voted by the fans.
Regular fan favourites such as Madell, Batt and USA's Chuck Aoki have a lot of work to do to catch up to Bhuta in the eyes of the fans who have been following the 2014 IWRF World Championship. The pint-sized 2.5 player has received almost 35 percent of the votes so far.
- Bhuta has had a great tournament. He has been a standout player for his country this week, and Great Britain has had a lot of support both in the arena and on the social media pages. He's still a young and up and coming player who continues to improve, and the whole team is quite young and have a young audience following their progress, which probably accounts for some of their popularity on social media, said wheelchair rugby writer Beau Greenway.
The voting continues all the way through the final games Sunday, and new players can still be nominated using the hashtag #odense2014mvp on Twitter and Facebook.
